Tim Cummiskey
Director of Contemporary Music

Central Ohio guitarist and Educator Tim Cummiskey performs as both a leader and a sideman throughout the Midwest. Tim currently leads several groups ranging from solo jazz and classical guitar to larger group configurations. As a sideman, Tim has performed and/or conducted clinics with many national and terminational artists.
In addition to his busy performance schedule, Tim Has conducted clinics at the annual convention of the International Association of Jazz Educators, OMEA and numerous colleges throughout the midwest.
Tim has 2 recordings on the String Jazz label, Bucky Pizzarelli said of Tim’s 2nd CD ‘Redeeming the Time’’ “‘I have listened to this album from beginning to end, Tim is a plectrum master, he has arrived”. Tim’s first book released in 2005 by Mel Bay “Learning Tunes Workout” has received critical acclaim and popular appeal. His latest recording “Liquid Fire has received popular appeal and critical acclaim. Tim served as a member of the Jazz Studies and Music Education faculty of the Ohio State University School of Music for 20 years and served on the music faculty of Kenyon College for 6 years. Tim served on the music ministry team of Upper Arlington Lutheran Church for over 15 years under the direction and apprenticeship of renown church and liturgical composer Dr. Michael G. Martin. Tim is also a contribution writer to Downbeat Magazine, Jazz Improv, Just Jazz Guitar, and Jazz Guitar Today Magazines. Tim is a MelBay Author and is a Benedetto Guitars Artist and endorser.
